If you lift and want to log it properly, two names keep coming up: Hevy and Strong. Both are good. They are also more alike than either one would admit. Here is how they stack up, and a third option worth knowing about if you also care what you eat.
Hevy
Hevy has quietly become the default for a lot of lifters. Clean interface, an easy routine builder, a generous free tier, and a social feed if you want one. Logging is quick, rest timers work, and your history is easy to read. The paid tier mostly lifts limits on routines and adds a bit of analytics.
Strong
Strong is the veteran, one of the original serious lifting logs, and still loved for how fast and no-nonsense it is to use. The plate calculator and warm-up sets are nicely done. Its free tier is tighter (a cap on custom routines), and the app has moved more slowly than Hevy in recent years.
Head to head
| Hevy | Strong | |
|---|---|---|
| Routine builder | Excellent | Good |
| Logging speed | Fast | Very fast |
| Free tier | Generous | Limited |
| Social feed | Yes | No |
| Nutrition tracking | No | No |
Look at the last row. Both are pure workout loggers. Neither knows a thing about your calories, your protein, or your bodyweight trend. That is fine until you start cutting or bulking and your lifts move for reasons that have nothing to do with the gym.
The third option
Rep N Prep logs your training the way Hevy and Strong do. Routines, sets, reps, PRs, rest timers, cardio with GPS. The difference is that it also logs your food, and a coach reads the two together. When your bench stalls, it can point at the week your calories dropped, because it can actually see both.
You keep your history too. Rep N Prep imports a Hevy workout export directly, so switching does not mean starting your logbook from zero.

Want a slick routine builder and a social feed for pure lifting? Go Hevy. Want the fastest, most stripped-back log and nothing else? Strong is hard to beat. But if you are lifting and watching what you eat, a workout-only app leaves half the picture out, and that is the half Rep N Prep fills.
Free to start, and it imports your Hevy history. Download it here and keep your lifts and your food in one place.
